Lives and works in Chicago, IL

The dialog expressed in these pieces consists of line, shape, and a child like joy of color. The imagery pulls from popular symbols, mass media, vernacular photography, memory and automatic drawing.
The shaped surface allows me to explore form in a way that can't be addressed in a standard rectangle or square. The pieces occupy a space between art object and an illusionist painting. The contours can be just as rigid as they are biomorphic.
In my current work, I have found I am no longer under any of the rules I had previously imposed regarding my process. I like the ambiguous nature of the shapes, where the viewer questions if the shape was created independently of the paint, or if the painting is actually a part of a larger work that it was then removed from.
